The Fitzwilliam College Shadowing Scheme offers students attending a state school or college in any one of our Link Areas of Cheshire, Cumbria, and Hammersmith and Fulham the opportunity to come to Cambridge from 20th to 23rd November 2019. You will accompany current Fitzwilliam students to their lectures, supervisions, and social activities, to see what student life at Cambridge is really like (hint: it’s a lot of fun!). The Fitz students will be studying a range of subjects so you'll be able to pick the lectures and classes that you're most interested in, and you could even try something completely new! There will also be a personal statements workshop and a session on the Cambridge application process. You will be provided with accommodation and meals in Fitzwilliam College for the duration of the scheme.
The scheme is open to students starting Year 12 in September 2019 who attend a state-maintained school in Cheshire, Cumbria, or Hammersmith or Fulham. We aim to select applicants with the academic potential to apply to top universities, but who come from backgrounds that are currently underrepresented in Cambridge and other highly selective institutions. Applicants who live in low-participation areas or have ever been in the care of a local authority will be prioritised, but there are no compulsory criteria and so we welcome applications from all high-achieving state school students.
The Fitzwilliam College Shadowing Scheme is a collaboration between students and College staff, run jointly by the student body and the Admissions Department. The scheme will run from 20th to 23rd November 2019, with accommodation and meals provided. There will be no cost to attend the scheme, and we will reimburse reasonable travel costs.
